>>>Do you know that Emma was invited to do BASIC INSTINCT ? She refused, so the role went (very appropriately) to Sharon Stone.

Some other movies Emma was originally casted, but didn't do are:

DAVE : Ivan Reitman wanted her, but she wanted to wait for another screenplay to work with Reitman. Then, Sigourney Weaver did the movie, and Emma finally did Junior with Reitman.

THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT : Emma did not like the screenplay, and the role went to Annette Benning.

THE CRUCIBLE : This is the one she was closer to to. A few weeks before they start to shoot it, she decided to quit. Then, the role went to Joan Allen (we could see Emma nominated for an Oscar here...).

THE HORSE WHISPERER : Emma was Robert Redford's first choice, but she wanted to do some alterations to the screenplay, and he refused. So, she decided not to do it, and the role went to Kristin Scott Thomas.

>>>Do you know that the first choice to the roles in THE REMAINS OF THE DAY was Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons?? But Ismail Merchand wanted Emma and Anthony Hopkins. There were coments at that time that Meryl really wanted to get Ms. Kenton's role. Well, that's why we all love Ismail Merchand!!

>>>Do you know that the first choice to play Dora Carrington was Vanessa Redgrave? This was many years ago, the first time the screenplay was to be filmed. We are glad CARRINGTON was not filmed at that time, but only some years later!

Did you know that, when filming THE REMAINS OF THE DAY,  Emma used to BITE Tony??  Well, we wish we had more specific informations about those bites...   When filming, he use to call her THOMPKINS and she call him HOPCRAFT.   He seems to bring luck to her: everytime she gets an Oscar, he gives it to her!!

>>>Do you know how many plays Emma did? Here they are:

>>>The last two ones (A Midsummernight's Dream and King Lear) were performed as a double program of Rennaisense Tour during the time DEAD AGAIN was being released in the movies. Rennaisense performed it to the end of 1991.
